This sympathetically converted 16th century barn nestles in the tiny hamlet of ‘Buttons’ in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Quiet and unspoilt, the detached barn is set within quarter of an acre of private garden with a babbling stream running around the western boundary.

No expense was spared in the sympathetic renovation, which was completed in 2008, and the barn retains its huge original oak beams and vaulted ceilings complemented with reclaimed oak floors, doors and windows.   The property is furnished with early English oak furniture and carved oak beds yet equipped with high quality modern appliances and comforts.  The barn is relaxed, comfortable and unfussy.

There are two bedrooms with king sized beds one with an ensuite bathroom with a full width walk in shower with the latest aqualisa fittings.  The other has a separate large bathroom with a Victorian roll top bath, floor standing taps with shower head.

The kitchen and living room have a high vaulted ceiling with original roof timbers.

The dining area has 17th Century oak refectory table and chairs.  The kitchen has an integral fridge and dishwasher, double oven, ceramic touch hob, granite worktops and is well equipped with high quality cutlery, crockery, pans and gadgets.  A stable door opens from the dining room to a small oak balcony overlooking the stream with table and chairs and stairs leading down to the garden.  Most of the window sills provide deep ‘window seats’ and you can tuck in to them and watch the birds or spot the trout in the stream below.

On the upper landing there is a bible box containing some board games, cards and brochures on local attractions.  There are local walking maps, compass etc.  There are lots of books and magazines.

The downstairs entrance hall has an oak stable door.  A separate cloakroom with original Victorian high cistern toilet and a utility/boot room with washing machine, tumble drier, freezer, and luggage rack as well as ironing facilities and coat rack.

From the hall there is a door which leads into a very large open plan room some 10 x 6 meters with huge double oak and glazed patio doors which open out to the rear, a side entrance door and window and the main barn doors which open to the front.

On the gravel drive there is a boot scrape, outside tap and a limestone trough. The gardens have hedge and rose filled borders, wide lawns and gravelled off-road parking for up to four cars.

The barn has central heating and is warm and comfortable with plenty of hot water.  It is extremely cosy in cold weather yet cool and airy in the summer.
